Expertise Limited, Bermuda's leading recruiter, is currently seeking a VP Underwriter (Excess Casualty) who is interested in relocating to sunny/income-tax friendly BERMUDA.
Our client is a newly established Class-4 insurer of specialist insurance solutions for on and offshore energy, power and utility, chemical; high tech; and pharmaceutical industries. They are rated A - (excellent) by A M Best.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Work as a senior underwriting technician within a small team of underwriters focusing on excess casualty business opportunities
Pricing and underwriting of complex casualty risks, articulating unit positions on exposures and
coverages to customers and the Bermuda client and brokerage community
Comprehension of legal and legislative requirements in the United States
Negotiate contract terms directly with brokers and clients
Adhere to all requirements established by the Torus with internal compliance team
Work with senior management to refine and develop underwriting procedures and approach
Minimum Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of 10 years as a casualty underwriter with a primary focus on U.S. exposures
Experience in placing facultative reinsurance
Strong marketing and presentation skills
Undergraduate degree required, graduate degree preferred
CPCU, ACII, ARe or similar professional designation preferred
Strong analytical skills in the areas of coverage comprehension, exposure analysis risk pricing
Familiarity with actuarial loss models
Candidate must be able to work in a team environment and be able to articulate opinions on risk, price and strategy to peer group
Demonstrated ability to negotiate contract terms directly with brokers and clients
Ability to draft and negotiate policy terms and conditions
